Night on the Red Carpet

Richland School District Two is hosting the 4th annual Film Festival!

Students and staff, we encourage you to participate in this event.  This is your chance to show off all your creativity through video creation!

It is important for students to find a school contact. This could be a homeroom teacher or any other adult who can assist them through this process. Students must have a Richland 2 school contact to proceed. More information about the school contact can be found here.

There will be a red carpet screening night on March 23rd, 2017 for all entries that make it to the finals. Additionally, winning videos will be announced at the end of this screening event.

Publix Partners

Hello Dolphins,

Through Publix Partners, all purchases made at Publix will help earn money for our school. For every $37,500 spent cumulatively by our school's participants, Publix will award our school $250.*

How It Works

Present your Publix Partners school card at checkout.
All purchases at Publix* will help earn money for your school.
Your school will receive a check.
Based on a minimum earning of $250 per quarter, your school will receive a check as often as four times a year. If your school doesn't earn $250 in a quarter, any funds accrued will be carried over to the next quarter.
Your school chooses how to use the money.
Whether it's computers or microscopes, art supplies or sports equipment that your school needs, Publix Partners can help make that happen.
Family and friends are welcome.
They can present cards linked to your school at any Publix (except in Florida) and benefit your school.
Track the totals.
Take a look at the top Publix Partner earnings for schools in your area.
*All purchases are eligible with the exception of gift cards, alcohol, lottery items, money services, postage stamps, and prescriptions.
You can view our progress by going to publix.com and select partners. See link below.

    Spring Testing Information

    April 4, 2016

    Dear Parent/Guardian,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that your student will be taking the computer-based SC PASS Science and Social Studies (Grades 4-5) and SC Ready Writing, Reading and Math (Grades 3-5) assessments on the following dates:

    Grades 3 – 5:
    ELA Session 1 – Writing - April 26
    ELA Session 2 – Reading - April 27
    Mathematics – April 28

    Grades 4 – 5:
    Science – May 11
    Social Studies – May 12

If you or your student would like to gain familiarity with the computer-based testing platform, item types, and response formats your student will see on the SC PASS AND SC READY assessments, use the following link:
https://wbte.drcedirect.com/SC/portals/sc and click on Online Tools Training for SC Ready.  Click on the subject area,
grade level and then Standard.   Type in the username and password that is on the sign in screen.

The statewide assessment program is designed to provide parents, teachers, policy makers, and the general public with information regarding how well students are learning South Carolina’s academic standards.  It is very important that students are prepared to do their personal best.  Below are ways you can help during the testing period.

    Before the Test
Please schedule doctor/dental appointments around test dates so that students are present and on time for tests each day.

    On Test Days
Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast.  This will ensure that your child is working at full capacity.

If your son or daughter wears glasses, make sure they have them.

Remain positive and help students avoid conflicts or becoming upset. Help your child stay calm. If students get upset about anything before school, they are likely to experience anxiety during the test.

    Arrive on time.

Thank you for supporting your student and encouraging him or her to do his or her best during this test administration.

    Sincerely,

    Wanda Wells

    Message from the School Nurse

FROM THE RICE CREEK HEALTH ROOM…………
    PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
We have had an incredible amount of visits to the health room so far this year. This is where the school nurse needs your help to talk with your children about what are appropriate health room visits. The school nurse is responsible for seeing that the students are healthy. The health room personnel also provide basic first aid and can communicate with you if your child becomes ill or seriously injured at school. Reminders about the health room:
    •         Health room personnel provide basic first aid for incidents that occur during school hours.
    •          Our health room does not keep stock medication such as Tylenol or cough drops. If your child needs a prescription medication, a medication permission form must be signed by the doctor and the medication brought to the health room in its original package with label. Medications should not be sent on the bus. Over-the-c0unter medications can be sent in the original package with a medication permission form filled out by the parent/guardian, or a note brought in with the medication stating the name of the medication, how much to give, what time or how often child is allowed to have the medication. Again, medications should not be sent on the bus and it is always best to have a parent/guardian bring medication directly to health room. All medications must be locked in the health room.
    •          OUR HEALTH ROOM SERVICES ARE NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR GOOD MEDICAL CARE FROM YOUR FAMILY HEALTH CARE PROVIDER. Our health room personnel may be able to assist you in obtaining a provider if you do not have one.

Thank you all for your cooperation and for taking time to speak with your children. If you have any questions regarding your child’s health, please do not hesitate to contact the school nurse!

Pictures will be distributed on Monday, January 25th. We need for either the package or the money for the package returned to the school by Friday, February 5th.   If you have any questions, call the school at 699-2900.
